The pond in Steinmetz Park used to be much bigger, and the kids in the neighborhood would swim and skate there. My uncle tells about a time when a truck fell through the ice and ruined the skating for the rest of the winter. He also likes to tell about the time they drained the pond, leaving tons of fish in the shallow water at the bottom. He and his friends scooped up the fish in buckets and dumped them in the quarry. No good reason; just something to do one summer afternoon.

Who in the world would name a store Two Guys? We always said it as if it were a single word – Toogize. My brother and I would take our Christmas shopping money there when we were kids, because we knew we could find something absolutely hideous to give to our Aunt Sis. Thank goodness she had a fantastic sense of humor.
